WHAT'S
NEW temporary change in water treatment Beginning January 15, 2010, Chatham County Utilities will temporarily stop adding ammonia to its water treatment disinfection process, as required by state law. Chatham County will resume adding ammonia to the water treatment disinfection process on February 15, 2010. Chatham County Utilities will also conduct flushing of the water distribution system during this period to speed up the change of chloramines to chlorine residual disinfectant. The system flushing may result in some minor discoloration of water, so be cautious in laundering light-colored items during this period. Click here for more details. Assessment for FHA Community Association Management Specialists (CAMS) is under contract to the FHA Board to handle certain business, including collecting the 2010 FHA Assessment for ALL Fearrington residents who are property owners. This assessment is described in the Deeds of Property that everyone received when they bought their home.

Medical Transportation Services
Effective immediately, Chatham
Transit Network is offering a medical transportation
program, Health Rides, for county residents age 60
and older and adults age 18 and older with a
disability or health condition that prevents them
from driving. The program will help them get to
medical and dental appointments and pharmacies.

Bus schedules and additional information are available by clicking here and will be available at the FHA office. For more information you can also contact Chatham Transit at 542-5136; Chapel Hill Transit at 969-4900 or http://www.chtransit.org/. Schedules are subject to change (and typos) so it is advisable to call the bus service before your trip to confirm your plans. There are two stops in Fearrington: 1) on Weathersfield at the entrance to Galloway Ridge, and 2) at the intersection of Village Way and Swim & Croquet. These are not park and ride locations - they are intended for pedestrian access or for kiss and go drop-off. The fare for each ride will be $3, or a $65 monthly pass is also available.

Chatham
County Council on Aging The Chatham County Council on Aging relies on a committed group of volunteers to serve and deliver an estimated 41,000 nutritious meals to older adults this year. Due to record-high demand, the Council needs 20 to 25 additional volunteers and back-up volunteers to deliver meals to older adults who are home-bound or are unable to prepare their own meals. WATER RESTRICTIONS: A REMINDER Chatham County has year round restrictions on water usage, particularly on the use of county water for irrigation. In Fearrington Village watering is permitting only on Tuesday and Saturday mornings between 12:00AM (midnight) and 7:00 AM. You can view the ordinance by clicking here.
